About Andy Rodriguez

Known professionally as dj Andy, ‘El Mas Bailable’ (The Most Danceable), Andy Rodriguez has risen to become one of the top Salsa disc jockeys out of Puerto Rico.
Born in New York City, raised in Puerto Rico at an early age he took an interest in dancing where he developed his instinct for rhythm and timing.  At the famous Coabey in Puerto Nuevo, Andy got inspired to research and learn the roots of the Salsa and Cuban music.  He sought out well-known musicologists Geño Acosta and Carlos Acosta  and other renown musicologists on Saturdays at theViera Records store in San Juan.

When Andy started his disc jockey profession, he rose quickly to performing the hottest venues in San Juan including: Tropico, Perico’s Pub, El Conuco, Palo Once, Case de Palo, Sparkly, Habana Club, Cha-Cha-Cha Nights, and the Embassy Suites Hotel. Afterwards, and Shots in Isla Verde.


Upon being noticed by events producer Tony Quiñones, Andy soon received billing with the top professional salsa artists and bands including: Cano Estremera, Nacho Sanabria, Sonora Ponceña, Willie Rosario, Tito Rojas, Roberto Rohena, Tommy Olivencia, Jose Alberto El Canario, Azuquita, El Gran Combo, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Soneros del Barrio, Jimmy Bosch, Cheo Feliciano.  In 2002 DJ Andy was hired to play his first international appearance at the Dominican Republic salsa congress and again chosen to play at the Worlds Salsa Congress in Ponce, PR.  Andy was the first DJ to be interviewed on the Puerto Rico TV channel Telemundo.

Andy now resides between Washington, DC and New York City and currently performs some of the top latin shows in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, DC.
